If you need more help

Eden Heating specialises in hydronic underfloor heating, electric underfloor heating, and hydronic radiators for residential and commercial properties across Adelaide and surrounding areas.

Underfloor heating is a system that warms your home from the floor up, providing even, comfortable heat throughout the room. Eden Heating installs systems that operate silently and are completely hidden beneath your flooring.

  • Hydronic underfloor heating uses warm water circulating through pipes beneath the floor. Eden Heating recommends this system for whole-home heating and larger areas.

  • Electric underfloor heating uses heating cables or mats and is ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and renovation projects.

Both options provide efficient, reliable warmth.

Hydronic radiators use hot water circulated through wall-mounted panels or towel rails to heat individual rooms. Eden Heating supplies and installs modern hydronic radiators that offer fast heat-up times, precise temperature control, and a clean, contemporary appearance.

Hydronic radiators are ideal when:

  • Retrofitting heating into an existing home

  • Faster heat response is preferred

  • Floor construction limits underfloor heating installation

  • Heating bedrooms, upper levels, or individual rooms

Eden Heating can also combine radiators with hydronic underfloor heating in the same system.

Yes. Eden Heating designs integrated systems where hydronic radiators and underfloor heating operate from the same heat source, such as a boiler or heat pump, allowing flexible zoning and temperature control.

Adelaide’s winter climate is well suited to hydronic heating. Eden Heating often installs underfloor heating in living areas and open spaces, while hydronic radiators are commonly used in bedrooms and renovation projects. Electric underfloor heating is popular for bathrooms and smaller areas.

Yes. Hydronic heating systems installed by Eden Heating operate at lower temperatures while delivering consistent warmth. They can be paired with heat pumps, gas boilers, or solar-assisted systems to help reduce running costs.

Yes. Eden Heating regularly installs electric underfloor heating and hydronic radiators in existing homes and renovations. Hydronic underfloor heating is usually best planned for new builds or major renovations. However with our specialised floor chasing machine and in screed hydronic designs all is possible (see our retrofit projects StirlingUnley)

Underfloor heating installed by Eden Heating works with most flooring types, including:

  • Tiles and stone

  • Polished concrete

  • Engineered timber

  • Vinyl

  • Carpet (with suitable underlay)

The cost depends on the system type, floor area, and installation complexity. Hydronic radiators and electric systems generally have lower upfront costs, while hydronic underfloor heating offers excellent long-term efficiency. Eden Heating provides tailored quotes based on your home and requirements.

Yes. Hydronic radiators installed by Eden Heating use sealed hot water systems and operate at lower surface temperatures than traditional heaters, making them a safe option for family homes.

  • Electric underfloor heating: 1–2 days per room

  • Hydronic radiators: 1–3 days depending on system size

  • Hydronic underfloor heating: Several days, typically coordinated with your build or renovation schedule

Electric underfloor heating requires minimal maintenance. Hydronic systems may require occasional servicing of the boiler or heat pump. Eden Heating can advise on recommended maintenance for long-term performance.

Yes. Eden Heating installs hydronic underfloor heating and hydronic radiators as primary heating systems for many Adelaide homes, either independently or combined.

Yes, hydronic underfloor heating can be installed under many timber floors, but there are important considerations to ensure comfort, efficiency, and the long-term integrity of the flooring.

Engineered timber is generally preferred for underfloor heating because it is more dimensionally stable and less prone to expansion and contraction than solid timber. Solid timber can still be used, but care must be taken with species selection, plank width, and moisture content to minimise movement caused by temperature changes.

The flooring manufacturer’s guidelines should always be followed. Eden Heating recommends checking with the manufacturer to confirm that the timber is suitable for heated floors, including maximum recommended floor temperature and installation method. Proper insulation, subfloor preparation, and temperature control are critical to ensure even heat distribution, prevent warping, and maintain the durability and appearance of the timber floor over time.

With the correct timber, installation method, and temperature management, hydronic underfloor heating provides efficient, comfortable, low-temperature radiant warmth while preserving the beauty and longevity of the timber flooring.

Yes, hydronic underfloor heating can be installed under carpeted areas, but there are important considerations to ensure efficiency and comfort. The thermal resistance of the carpet and underlay, measured as the TOG rating, affects how well heat passes through to the room. A higher TOG rating means the carpet is more insulating, which can reduce the heat transfer from the floor to the room.

Even with thicker carpets, the system will still heat the room effectively, but the carpet surface itself may feel slightly cooler to the touch, as some of the heat is retained in the underlay or carpet fibers.

Eden Heating always recommends using a low TOG underlay and confirming with the carpet manufacturer that their product is compatible with underfloor heating. Choosing the correct combination ensures efficient heat transfer, even warmth in the living space, and long-term performance of both the flooring and the heating system.

Under-Tile Heating:

  • Installed directly beneath tiles using thin mats or cables.

  • Quick to fit and ideal for small wet areas.

  • Drawbacks: Cables are close to the surface, so they can be damaged during tile replacement or renovation. Lower watt cables may also take longer to heat the floor effectively.

In-Screed Heating:

  • Installed within the screed layer, giving a protected, durable system that won’t be damaged during future renovations.

  • Higher watt cables provide fast, even heat and strong performance under tile, stone, or engineered timber.

  • The screed stores heat, giving warmth that lasts longer than thin under-tile systems.

  • Perfect for bathrooms, ensuites, and laundries where comfort, reliability, and luxury are important.

Eden Heating Advice:
For long-term peace of mind and the best possible wet area comfort, we always recommend in-screed heating. It delivers luxurious, consistent warmth while protecting both your flooring and your investment.
